Leaders show respect by giving others their undivided attention. They ask for ideas and really listen to what their team has to say. Doing this lets people know that you are genuinely interested in them and value their opinions. But more importantly, it makes people feel respected as worthwhile, competent individuals.
If someone is talking to you and you look bored or interrupt the person, you are clearly indicating that you don't really care what this person has to say. Remember, you are the leader; you set the tone for everyone to follow; everyone will follow your example. So, when you are talking with someone, make that person the most important person in the world because it shows a level of respect and appreciation for what the person is saying and, in the process, permits others to do the same.
